Architecture and Technology
Epix is a modular Layer 1 built to support the next generation of on-chain ecosystems. While our initial execution layer is fully EVM-compatible, making it easy for developers to port existing smart contracts, Epix is not just another Ethereum fork.
We're building a chain designed for composability across virtual machines, with planned native support for SVM (Solana Virtual Machine) and MVM (Move Virtual Machine) in future upgrades. This unlocks access to radically different developer communities, application designs, and performance models — all under a single unified chain.
The Epix architecture is built on a hybrid validation model, separating consensus from execution to maximize flexibility and throughput: Consensus is powered by a custom implementation derived from CometBFT (based on the proven Tendermint Core used across the Cosmos ecosystem), enabling high-performance block production and IBC compatibility from day one. Execution is modular by design. We start with EVM, but the architecture is ready to plug in additional VMs natively, making Epix one of the first L1s to treat multi-VM as a core primitive, not an afterthought.
Epix isn’t just EVM+. It’s a foundation for the modular multichain future, where liquidity, applications, and users can move frictionlessly across different execution environments — all within a single sovereign chain.
